A Moving Monday: Fred Rogers Inducted into the Hall of Fame (1999)

In 1999, Fred Rogers from Mister Roger’s Neighborhood, which aired from 1968-2001, was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. He was thrilled to see Jeffrey Erlinger, a child who was on his show at five years old and sharing about his condition.

Fame is a four-letter word, he says. What matters is what we do with it. We are servants, helping to meet the deeper needs of those who watch and listen.

He also asks, “How can we make goodness attractive?” He invokes in his own words the second part of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:34-40).
